Why use Wood Pellets as a fuel?
Wood pellets are small compressed cylinders of
natural dry wood shavings and sawdust, formed from what was previously waste. Wood pellets are therefore classed as Low Carbon helping to counter Climate Change.
Pellets are supplied either in small bags or in loose bulk, delivered by road tanker. Wood pellet prices (August 2011) being approximately . .
Bagged – 24.5p to 27.5p per kg
Bulk – 18.5p to 21p per kg
These are typical prices experienced by our local customers and include delivery. VAT is additional at 5% to the end user.
Prices vary dependant on locality, but production within the UK is increasing as demand steps up.
For comparison, 2kg pellets = 1 litre of heating oil.
