Multi Fuel Stoves

Multifuel is the term used for stoves designed to burn all accepted fuels that can be described as solid, such as wood, coal and peat. Real fires have been part of our heritage since the early days of mankind. In recent times, the real fire has been thought of as out dated, having out lived its usefulness with the advent of other fuels.

Yet, there is still a yearning for the real thing, that wonderful warmth and sense of cosiness that only a real fire can bring, something which the other fuels can only try to imitate. In addition, with wood burning stoves, you have the choice to use the only truly renewable fuel available.

Many solid fuel appliances are now multi-fuel and can burn both wood and coal. The manufacturers’ specification will tell you what you can burn and the average heat output that you can expect.

Some appliances are manufactured soley for burning wood and these will have no bottom grate. However, some can be converted to burn coal by fitting a grate. A grate must be used when you are burning smokeless coal.
